The United Nations’ World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has released its latest report on global greenhouse gas emissions, and — how do we say this without sounding deliberately alarmist? — it’s looking extremely bleak out there, folks. The report found that the global average concentration of carbon dioxide spiked by 3.5 parts per million between 2023 and 2024, the biggest increase since modern measurements began in 1957.
