Coronavirus Update: Every TV Show, Movie, Sport, or Major Event Canceled or Postponed

The coronavirus global pandemic continues to spread, with over 1 million diagnosed cases worldwide. In the United States, many state and local governments have closed schools, shut down restaurants and nightclubs, encouraging residents to follow the Center for Disease Control’s recommendation for “social distancing” as a means to slow the spread of the disease and save lives. An unprecedented number of public events and productions have also been canceled, and no industry has been left untouched. The entertainment world has seen TV productions come to a halt, movie premiere dates delayed, and major events like the Cannes Film Festival, E3, and Broadway musicals all postponed or canceled in response to the news. The sports world has also been heavily impacted, as leagues like the NBA, NHL, and MLB have all postponed or canceled their seasons of gameplay. The 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo have also been postponed, along with the Cannes Film Festival. Furthermore, many theme parks, including Disney and Universal’s locations, are being closed down for the month of March in an effort to slow the spread of the virus.
