USDA Shares (Incomplete) List of Frozen Programs With Congress

In response to requests from Senate Agriculture Committee Ranking Member Amy Klobuchar (D-Minnesota), USDA officials provided a list of 15 agency programs that are currently paused, meaning farmers and organizations with active grant contracts are not currently receiving payments. However, based on Civil Eats’ ongoing reporting, the list—which was shared with Politico—is incomplete. The list confirms that the Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities Program, which was slated to move $3.1 billion to thousands of farmers across the country, is still under review. It also includes the Rural Energy for America Program, despite the fact that the USDA announced it had unfrozen that program at the end of March. […]
