President Donald Trump visited Peterbilt Motors Company’s facility in Denton on Oct. 1, delivering a speech to employees about his “pro-growth economic” strategies, referring to the America First Trade Policy. The administration’s reason for Denton as the backdrop for this speech was because Peterbilt has created at least 1,000 jobs in the city, which they credit Trump and his tariffs for the “manufacturing boom.” During the roughly hour-long speech, Trump covered not only tariffs and manufacturing, but also the Iran war, gas prices, poverty, deregulation for trucking, immigration, transgender rights and his endorsement of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
