The Kansas City metro has emerged from stay-at-home orders and local leaders have started to reopen businesses after weeks of shutdown from the coronavirus.

What you need to know:

• The Kansas Department of Health and Environment said Friday the state has 12,059 cases confirmed cases of COVID-19 and there have been 258 deaths since the outbreak started. Kansas is now only updating COVID-19 data on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
• The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services said Friday 948 deaths have been attributed to COVID-19 in the state and there are 17,201 confirmed cases since the outbreak started. […]
