September 9, 2026 – In collaboration with a group of nonprofits, cities, and states, four unions representing government workers filed a new lawsuit Tuesday to stop the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) from implementing a plan to reorganize the agency. The filing comes on the heels of an earlier lawsuit that challenged government staffing changes more broadly. A judge in that case allowed the USDA’s reorganization—which would force thousands of workers to relocate—to continue and indicated the union’s claims should be the subject of a separate suit. […]
